I will admit to you that we love soda (or pop as we call it here in our house in Michigan). I don't always like the price and I do not like flat soda. I also don't enjoy lugging bags of soda cans back to the store to return for deposit (Michigan has a 10 cent deposit on all their soda cans and bottles). So when I came across the SodaStream site I was excited to try out a Soda Maker.

SodaStream is a smarter way to enjoy soda! Making carbonated water and soft drinks is simple! Turn tap water into sparkling water in under 30 seconds, with no clean-up. Enjoy the freshness and convenience of homemade soda and protect the environment at the same time. No heavy bottles to carry, store at home or throw away. Fizz to your taste and add the flavor of your choice to make your favorite drink. Simple to clean and reuse. Making your favorite soda, flavored sparkling water or energy drink is simple, with SodaStream's wide variety of over 30 sodamix syrups including dozens of regular, diet and caffeine-free options. Flavors include classics like cola, lemon-lime, and root beer...Exotic fruit flavors like orange mango and diet pink grapefruit...Energy drink, sparkling iced teas and cocktail mixers. Each bottle of sodamix makes about 12 liters of soda (about 33 cans!) for around 25 cents per 12-ounce can.

SodaStream Carbonators are made of lightweight aluminum to exacting standards set forth by the US Department of Transportation. We maintain the highest quality standards to ensure safety and purity of our CO2 refills. Carbonators are available in two sizes, to make up to 60 or 110 liters of soda or sparkling water per carbonator. A full, licensed CO2 carbonator is included with the purchase of every SodaStream soda maker kit. When empty, SodaStream takes back the cylinder to be cleaned, inspected, refilled and reused. Carbonators may be exchanged online, or at select SodaStream authorized retailers.

SodaStream carbonating bottles are specially designed, high pressure-resistant bottles for use with SodaStream soda makers. SodaStream PET carbonating bottles are BPA-free and may be reused for up to 3 years. The glass carafes included with the Penguin soda maker may be used indefinitely, with proper care. I received a Fountain Jet in Red to review! It arrived on Spring Break and I had a house full of kids. They were all so excited to try it out (so was my hubby and I)! We broke it out and tried it out right away. We made Cola and Orange mango first. It is a very simple and fast process. I like that you can control how much fizz (or carbonation) you put in each bottle. We have played around with it a bit and realized what flavors we like more carbonation or less. The bottles keep the soda fresh and fizzy for days. We took both bottles filled with Orange Mango Soda on our Spring Break getaway a couple weeks ago and even after we got home, the little bit of soda that was left still tasted like it did the day we made it! That can't be said about normal 2 liters of soda after they are opened! Like I said before, I dislike flat soda and won't drink out of a 2 liter bottle after a day or 2 of being open. It usually ends up getting dumped down the kitchen sink. I don't see that ever happening to a SodaStream Bottle!

Everyone in my house (and even everyone who has tried it, ie. nieces, nephews and sister in laws) loves the soda that our Fountain Jet makes! I am going to be buying some more flavors very soon. Orange Mango is my favorite right now, but I will say that the Diet Cola is not bad either. This coming from a Diet Coke addict, who does not like drinking other brands of diet. My only warning about using your Soda Maker is that when you are pouring your flavored syrup in the bottle, pour slowly and tilt the bottle, or you will end up with an explosion of soda all over the counter! :) It does tell you this in the instructions, but silly me forgot and poured the capful of syrup in all at once and ended up wearing the soda and having a big mess to clean up!

The Fountain Jet does not take up much room on the counter and is very lightweight. I love how they have various colors to choose from to match your decor. I was very excited to see they had red, since my kitchen has red accents!
