Happy Earth Day 2010!

The very first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970. This day was created by American Senator, Gaylord Nelson, to make people aware of the importance of keeping our planet healthy and clean. On that day, people made promises to help the environment and make positive changes in their community. Since then, more than 500 million people in over 180 countries have participated in Earth Day activities! (this info was taken from EcoKids site)

I have been trying to be more earth friendly or green over the past year or so. I am switching to reusable bags, switching my light bulbs to CFL, using chemical free cleaners in my home, recycling, turning lights off when we are not using them and unplugging appliances. These are just a few, but I feel that if everyone makes a few small changes, we make a huge impact!

What are you doing to be more Green?

All week I have been hosting an Earth Week Giveaway Celebration! Each day I am introducing you to an earth friendly company and offering a giveaway to go along! Today is Day 5! Look for that to go up on the blog very soon. You won't want to miss out, today's is fun if you like soda! You can check out my other earth friendly giveaways below.
